Follow history videos on a map

History videos jump between cities, rivers and empires faster than you can picture them. Map Along puts every place on a live map next to the video, in sync with playback, and draws the borders as they were at the time.

Thessaly, Thebes and Macedonia on the map, with 335 BC borders, while Epic History's Alexander the Great plays.

What Map Along shows you

Borders through time

When the narrator talks about the Byzantine Empire in AD 600, you see the Byzantine Empire in AD 600, not modern Turkey. A year badge follows the story, from 331 BC to today.

Routes and campaigns

Marches, voyages, migrations and trade routes are drawn as arrows from start to end, labelled with who moved and when, like Alexander the Great's march from Egypt to Mesopotamia.

Ancient places, found

Cities that changed their names or no longer exist are placed where they stood, with a card saying what they were and a Wikipedia link.
